The coding team at NuCamp is dedicated to helping students in underserved communities get a valuable technical education. NuCamp understands that Philadelphia is continuing to grow into a major technical city. They know that Philadelphia is only looking to grow and are excited to be a part of the community's technological boom. NuCamp is dedicated to offering premium courses at the lowest cost possible. If you’re looking to take your skills to the next level and save some money in the process, look no further than NuCamp!

Additional Info

NuCamp offers three different courses at their Philadelphia campus. The shortest 4 week Web Development course will include instruction on HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Visual Studio Code. NuCamp’s 17 week Advanced Front End + Mobile Development course, focuses on the following curriculum: Responsive Web Development with Bootstrap, Git and Github, Mobile Development using React, Packaging and Compiling, and Visual Studio Code. It is recommended that new programmers take the first 4 week course before taking an advanced course. The 22 week Full Stack Web + Mobile App Developer course, focuses on these concepts: all front end concepts previously mentioned, plus Backend with NodeJS, Databases and Storage, and Web Application Architecture.

NuCamp’s programs range in length from 4 weeks to 22 weeks. The bootcamp teaches on a hybrid system with classes being held both in person and online. Students are expected to work online for 3-4 hours a day during the work week. On Saturdays, students attend a 4 hour workshop to go over the week’s concepts.

NuCamp has elected to withhold job placement data for many reasons. One main reason behind this is the fact that NuCamp believes many bootcamps place too much weight on job placement statistics instead of giving students the individual attention they need to succeed. NuCamp focuses on each student and alumni’s progress instead of tracking entire groups of data together. Graduates of NuCamp’s programs will be enrolled in a 6 week career development program that shows graduates different ways of connecting with potential employers.

Tuition may vary based on bootcamp location. All prices mentioned here are for the Philadelphia NuCamp services only. NuCamp offers a 4 week bootcamp which costs $320, an advanced 17 week bootcamp which costs $1,260, and an advanced 22 week bootcamp which costs $1,620. If students elect to sign up 2 weeks before the start date of a particular bootcamp, they will receive a 15% off “Early Bird Discount”. Various tuition payment plans are available and vary based on location.

I chose Nucamp coding bootcamp because I wanted to see if coding is something I could enjoy. I work full time and overtime, so other schooling is not right for me; 2-3 hours online during the week and one weekend day in person is workable. The price is well worth the experiment. In my case, I enjoyed the beginner bootcamp so much that I’ve signed up for the more extensive bootcamp. A few people quit halfway through. I can’t help but think they found it worthwhile, though; I would have, even if it wasn’t for me. Knowing is better than the opposite.

I chose Nucamp because firstly it was affordable and was a flexible option to do homework and assignments while I work full-time. I enjoyed the weekly workshops with my instructor. She was very knowledgeable and patient with each student. I encourage anyone who has been wanting to learn how to code to enroll in Nucamp because of the flexibility it offers.

I looked at various bootcamp options before giving Nucamp a shot. Most other offerings are far more expensive and are significant investments in time and money. I was pleased with the Nucamp Web Fundamentals course which lasted 4 weeks and will likely move forward with the Full Stack Developer course (22 week commitment) after this experience. The course is arranged so that you can work a regular 9-5 job, using off time to study/code to prepare for the Saturday 5 hour meet-up hosted by the instructor. The format worked well for me despite the distractions thrown at me by life. I enjoyed having a more structured approach to the material than I would have had access to if I had chosen to “go it alone, teach myself” by buying a book or just googling it. Having the instructor and classmates to bounce questions off of resolved issues and expanded knowledge faster than the singular approach.

Nucamp’s pace of learning had the mix of online and in person training and accountability that best fit my situation. I would highly recommend Nucamp for any person wanting to explore a web development career.

I chose NuCamp because it was inexpensive, and it seemed like a great jumping off point. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The program guided me towards learning the essentials, and the instructor was always helpful, whether online or in-person. I just finished the Web Development Course, and I’m already signed up for the Full Stack Course in October.

In an effort to teach myself to code, I tried few online courses on udemy (for the past 3 months). Though I had a decent start in each of them, I often found myself stuck and needed guidance. I knew a part-time bootcamp would bridge the gap. Being a beginner, I started with Web Fundamentals – our instructor was very knowledgeable. The in-person workshops kept me accountable and motivated me to keep moving forward. I am looking forward to joining the Front End course offered by Nucamp. I would have liked the Web Fundamentals course to be perhaps a week or 2 longer and focus on 1 or 2 more projects which would help further reinforce the concepts learned.
